The Season Winds Down, D200’s Rise to the Top

The D200 is enjoying a successful debut year of drag racing.
When the NHRA Sport Compact Series left the famed Indianapolis drag strip, D200 equipped cars had claimed 3 National records. Brent Rau was able to click an unbelievable 7.18 for the Modified E.T. record. Marty Ladwig reset the Pro FWD E.T. record with a 7.26. Jason Hunt powered his Matco Tools Chevy Cobalt to 202.64 MPH for the national Pro FWD speed record.
With only two races left, D200’s are at the top of the leader board as well. Four of the top five cars in the NHRA Sport Compact Series Modified division have a D200 bolted to the dash, including current points leader Ken Scheepers. All four use the advanced multi-stage boost control to deliver the right amount of power at the precise time. Hunt and Ladwig are battling it out as the top two in Pro FWD.
In the NHRA Sport Compact Series events this year, a D200 has grabbed a Wally in every single event. In fact, until Indianapolis, D200’s had taken home two Wally’s from every event.
Dee Karagiannis most recently drove his Mazdaspeed Mazda3 to a win at the NDRA World Finals with a 7.39 at 183 MPH. A D200 was also on-board Jason Hunt’s Matco Tools Chevy Cobalt for a winning pass of 7.337 at 199 MPH. Hunt finishes the NDRA season as Pro Outlaw FWD 2007 Series Champion. Don Nase was also awarded 2007 Series Champion, enjoying a season of success driving his GM Racing, ECOtec backed Extreme Dragster. Nase also has the distinction, to the best of our knowledge, to have given the D200 its fastest ride with numerous 6 second, 200+ MPH passes.
