| I have an "06 Jeep Liberty CRD and like everybody else my complaint of this vehicle is that it holds gears way too long and for no reason that I can come up with. Burning extra diesel is not my idea of smart. Even in a no load situation, down hill at a constant speed, the transmission will not up shift. STUPID!!! As we all know, diesels like low RPM's and there is no reason to hold a gear at twice the RPM of peak torque (1800 RPM). Now that I have vented... Can I use this PCS with my diesel liberty to lower my shift points and lock up my converter? Does it work with a diesel? Does it work with my transmission, not sure but I think it's a 545RFE? Please let me know as I need to do something about this problem. -Thank you. |

I'm sorry but our controller is not meant for your application. Our controller is standalone and will not work to keep your factory happy. It does work on the transmission, but installing it on your vehicle will create a ton of problems that may not be fixable.

Russ,
Thanks for the reply. I don't care too much about keeping the factory happy. Honestly, I feel that they have done me a dis-service by setting up the transmission in the way that they have. If I could just shift gears manually everything would be fine.
So what kind of problems might I have if I were to use this PCS on my transmission? I kind of feel that my other choice at this point is to pull the automatic transmission and install a manual one but that seems almost crazy... almost.
I have tried to find anything to reflash the onboard controller but haven't had any luck in finding a tool to do it. Maybe the StarScan or OBDIII but nobody has any info for me. |

On the CRD, I'm not sure whats going to happen when the transmission is disconnected from the computer. You could unplug the solenoid connector and see what happens. On most vehicles you get a check engine light and a high idle. The check engine light is really only a problem if you have to pass emissions or return to the dealer for service. The high idle is the bigger problem. It makes the vehicle want to take off when you put it in gear.

The EURO version CRD's shipped with a manual transmission only - the 545RFE is not available for overseas venue - you can use that ECM with a stand-alone TCM to accomplish your goals - Inmotion has access to the Euro versions, so maybe they could reflash your ECM to Euro standards - you know.....for off-roading only |
