I'm trying to get a hold on what actually controls a "forced throttle" downshift. Not pulling it down, but when you give it more throttle. I've noticed on OEM transmissions, you can push down so much, get one downshift, push it to the floor, get another downshift.
Is this possible with this controller? I've got ALL my part throttle shift points set up just like the oem 700 did (this is controlling a 4L80e). When just letting off the throttle, it does perfect. But when I want to do a forced throttle downshift to pass, I don't understand how this controller handles that. The instructions are very vague on this.
I know in the WOT settings there is the WOT RPM shift points.(I'm still using TPS, Not MAP). Next to it are the minimum settings for MPH to allow downshift. Is this the only area of concern and how do I use this?

Its all in how you set the downshift tables. The part throttle downshift tables and the WOT Downshift MPH control when the transmission downshifts. When pressing on the throttle the controller first determines if you are in WOT mode or part throttle mode. This can be seen on the monitor screen in the lower right corner where there is a light called Full Throttle. If this light is off then the controller uses the part throttle shift tables to determine if its time to downshift. If the vehicle speed is below the Downshift MPH at the current throttle the transmission downshifts. When in WOT mode the controller only looks at the WOT downshift MPH. If the vehicle speed is below this then it downshifts.

So it can only go down one gear?
If I send you an example of my shift tables and tell you what I'm not liking, can you give kinda a direction to go with the tables? I need to know which way I need to take what to make it more responsive so I can get a downshift with less throttle. I can link pics and screen captures to my gallery.

It will go down as far as the shift tables allow it to. Feel free to email me your calibration file and I can show you what changes to make. If you want it to downshift with less throttle then raise all the the downshift values. my email address is russ@ptcs.us
