I have a 1996 Chev with a 454 and a 4L80 Transmission. When I start the truck there is a load banging coming from the tranny which sounds like something is hitting the torque convertor. In reverse it gets worse but in drive it quits. I can drive the truck and it shifts perfectly. Someone told me that it may be the flex plate. Does this make sense? I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks

Brad

Brad,
I'm not sure what your problem could be. First thing I would check is that your flexplate bolts are tight.
