Drive by wire systems typically have multiple throttle position sensors. One determines the driver's desired throttle position the other measures the throttle's actual position. If traction control is performed by the drive by wire PCS recommends using the desired throttle position instead of the Actual. If using actual throttle position and the car starts to spin the ECU will close the throttle causing the TCU to upshift the transmission. If using the desired throttle position the TCU will not short shift the transmission.
