just a few questions regarding the 2. i feel like im at the point of having nearly every different ecu in my car possible. each system seems to have things i like and things i dislike. im currently eyeballing a m800 and im bout 99% sure thats the route im going.
the m800 has plenty of inputs and outputs available. my main question is, how does the interpreter software and the d200 software compare? if logging through the motec...are you still viewing the pcs logs at the end of the pass or just using it as a display? im assuming it makes more sense to wire all of the sensors you are using for logging purposes into the ecu so you can monitor from both the pcs software and the motec software correct?
currently all of my 8 available inputs for the pcs are being used as the ecu i am using is not supported. other than the basics, i have an accelerometer i have put into the car but have not set up yet. i also want to do egt's in the future.
im not doing a good job of making my question(s) clear here....more or less i guess im just looking for somebody to share their opinions and ways of doing things using the 2 before i start wiring the car for the 12,000th time.
On our car we have the D200 as the primary data logger. We occasionally view the logs from the M800. The D200 logs all the sensor readings and important parameters from the M800 along with shock positions, accelerometers, egts, brake pressure, back pressure, crank case pressure, fuel pressure, oil pressure, driveshaft rpm, clutch rpm, and steering wheel angle. The D200 also controls the boost, shift light and the shocks. With the D200 we can view all this data on one software package. D200 software is not much different from the Interpreter software you can download both and compare them pretty easily.
i have downloaded and looked at both versions of the software...but not being totally familiar with either, its hard to really compare until you USE them in my opinion.
unfortunatly my car went out of commission on the 4th pass down the track so i didnt really get to use the pcs much at all. i think i didnt have a few of the things i wanted to log set up correctly (just by tapping into the signal wires from the unsupported ecu)...im sure that will become much easier once using a supported ecu.
you guys are obviously logging a lot of stuff......are all of the things you listed that the motec doesnt "need" to see wired into the motec or the pcs? i guess a lot of that stuff makes more sense to wire to the pcs.
what psi pressure sensor are you using for crank case pressure? ive always wanted to log that but never had the ability. looks as if i will now haha.
how expensive is it to get into the shock position/adjustment set up? i think our whole class could benefit from some suspension tweaking...but truthfully i dont really know where to start
We have everything I listed above wired to the D200. The Motec just has the normal sensors connected to it. (Map, Coolant, Air Temp, Throttle Position, Crank, Cam, and Baro Pressure)
We use a 100psi sensor to log crankcase pressure. We have seen it as high as 30psi on a weak engine. The shock sensors usually run around $300 each. You will need an expansion module for the D200 if you use up all the inputs. The expansion module is in production now and will be available shortly. We have been using it on our cars for almost 2 years now.
