|
|
Hello,
My name is David and I'm from Spain.
I've a '94 Toyota 4Runner with a 1KZ-T engine. It's a 3.0 Turbo diesel that is now intercooler and with rebuilt injectors and rebuilt and tuned injection pump. Also have a 3'' mandrel bent exhaust.
Well, my 4Runner it's manual but I can source from the UK the bellhousing, flywheel, torque converter and auto tranny that is an A343 (Almost identical to the Toy A340).
The problem I've is that the all the auto 4Runners are EFI, the diesels too, and my engine it's not EFI but mechanical injected, so I've no ECU to swap.
I need a way to control the tranny independantly from the engine, and don't know if your Transmission Control would work for me.
I have the engine rpm signal, the speed signal and the brake pedal signal. I don't have any throttle position sensor but I'm I can put one.
Resuming, my question is: If I provide to your ATC the signals from the engine rpm's, throttle position, brake and speed, can your ATC control the auto tranny? I mean the upshifts, downshifts, etc...
Also, I've read it can have multiple configs, so can I've a normal auto mode, power one and sequential shifting?
If your ATC can do this you haved saved me hehe
Thanks,
David |

David,
Our controller will work in your application. You would need to provide Throttle position and engine rpm signals to our controller. Our controller has 2 sets of shift maps you can switch between at anytime. It also has modes for button shifting, 4wd low and a snow mode. The only catch to the A340 transmissions is that we can only provide you with an unterminated harness and you will need to splice the transmission connectors on to it.

Thank you Russ,
I forgot to say the tranny I'll be controlling it's for a 4x4 truck. I suppose there's no difference but since your applications seem to be drag racing...
Thanks for your reply.

David,
Our applications are not limited to drag racing. You have complete control over all the tranmission functions allowing you to setup the transmission for whatever your application is.

Thank you, Russ.
I'm tieing the loose ends on this swap and then I'll order your TCU. I'm anxious to try it, must be so nice to hace absolute control over the transmission...
So I'll be able to control it with those inputs isn't it?
- RPM
- TPS
- Speedometer
- Brake pedal

Hello again,
I'm almost ready to order the TCM and the tranny from the UK.
As my truck have no TPS (Like a carbed gas engine), would your Remote Mount TPS Adaptor Kit be useful right?
Thanks,
David |

David,
All that is required for our controller is Engine RPM and Throttle Position. Our controller gets everything else it needs from the sensors on the transmission.
The Remote mount TPS can easily be adapted to anything. You may have to fabricate a bracket to attach the cable to your engine.
