I've been planning to swap a Cummins 4bt with a 4L80E into a truck. I've read in the forum that you can control an automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit mounted to it by programming the controller like a 5-speed. However, I was looking at installing a US Gear dual range overdrive unit. Can your controller control the 4L80E with the US Gear overdrive or would I need to manually operate the auxillary overdrive.
My only concern is that this unit operates like a 2-speed axle and requires you to let off of the accelerator briefly.
Marvin,
Our controller will not work with the US gear overdrive if you have to let off for it to shift. The TCU can not force the engine to let off for you. You can still use the overdrive but you would have to shift it manually.
