Hi,

I've got a nissan with what I assume is a magnetic type sensor.
It says in the manual it has a pulse output.

It is two wire.

Here is the page from the nissan manual on it.

http://butters.throwinghandles.com/file_storage/images/SpeedSensor.jpg

This is going to be a silly question but I don't want to risk damaging the dash unit.

Really wondering if anyone knows how the two wires are connected.

Obviously one side goes to the dash speed input 2.

The other side of sensor, it has to be one of the below.

Sensor Ground from dash ?
Ground from chasis ?
5volt output from the dash ?
12volt + from the battery ?

cheers

Simmo

I think I have figured it out.

What was confusing me was that I knew the factory ECU was fed a positive 0 - 5volt+

When i put a multimeter on another nissan i have. One side has negative 12v and hte other negative 8.

Since relised the sensor is fed to the back of the dash. The dash then converts it to a 0-5volt positve output for the ecu.

So I am hoping I can wire direct to the sensor.

All then I have to do is put one side to ground and the other to speed input 2.

Next step will be setting up the software.

I assume I set it to VSS and turn on the pull up resistor ?

What trigger, filter and glitch should i start with ?

Any ideas ?

On the Nissan 240sx we have here the settings are. Pull up resistor enabled, 2 pulses per rev, tire size, axle ratio, trigger level 2.5, filter 2, glitch filter 3. We connected one side to speed input 2 the other side to ground.
