|
|
Hi team,
I am wondering if the D200 is on the market. I am based in Australia and am keen to connect one to my WRX STI which I am running with an autronic ECU. There is no information on them locally, hence why I am asking the question here.
So just need to know if they are available for purchase. Any feedback appreciated.
Cheers. |

The product is not yet on the market. We hope to release this product soon and we are in the final stages of testing and development. We will begin production shortly. We are still awaiting some of the connection information for the Autronic and hope to build the Autronic ECU product line as a direct rs-232 datalog source for the D200. This will enable you to get information directly from your Autronic ECU and you will not have to piggyback or re-wire sensors for datalogging/monitoring. _________________ James Ballenger

| Ok, it's January now and a few of us are getting worried that the product is in an endless pre-production loop and won't seen the market by the time we need it. I'm building a lotus replica and was hoping to use the D200 as my gauge cluster. Will it be out by april? |

I understand your concern with the product delays. Most of this has been related to feature creep (we keep adding more and more to the capabilities of the D200) and extensive testing. We are still working on this product presently and have not yet entered final production. We still wish to fully validate the features and are still adding more capability on a daily basis. For those reasons, we are only likely to have limited quantities of the D200 by April and these may not be final production units. If you contact us in April it may be possible for us to deliver a pre-production or beta unit which can be upgraded in the future. My suggestion would be to contact us directly in March to check on availability. _________________ James Ballenger

| Alrighty, I will definitely be doing that! I very much don't mind being a beta-tester. |

Increased download speed & general usb reliability.
Multi-stage boost control. (A feature that may cost extra)
Generally increased number of input and output functions for the existing pinout.
More screens and navigation options.
More memory options.
More compatible ECU's for direct logging.
More compatible PCS devices (accelerometer module, egt module, GPS module).
These are just some of the recent items that we have been working on. _________________ James Ballenger

James, could you elaborate on this one? What ECUs are you supporting now, and which ones do you hope to add by the time the product goes to market?
I'm particularly interested in Aftermarket ECUs - As a TEC-2 user, I'll definitely be buying this product if it lets me bring data from the TEC, my stock Subaru ECU, and my LM-1, all into one spot. That would be incredible.

At this moment, I don't have a comprehensive list of ECU's that are currently supported and will be supported. However, I can say that the D200 will support your TEC-2, LM-1, 2 speed sensors and 8 analog inputs. I can't say what stock ECUs will be supported for certain. _________________ James Ballenger

| I'm just wondering what the current draw on a D200 will be? I'm just wondering cause I have to wire the car and am trying to get a breaker for the system. |

The official current draw, as of the last time we measured it during development, is 200 mA for the D200 alone. This may increase slightly before the final release of the D200 but it should certainly remain below 500 mA for the D200 alone. The D200 does have two PWM outputs which are capable of sourcing 3.5amps each. So if you intend to use these outputs and wish to be on the safe side, you may wish to wire for (3.5A + 3.5A + .5A) * 1.25 (Safety Factor) = 9.375 Amps. _________________ James Ballenger

what are the pwm outputs for? |

LOTS of things. They are very flexible and are programmable. You can choose to activate a switch based on rpm, load, boost, etc. You can operate a nitrous solenoid or do multi-stage boost control (an extra cost feature). You can activate the output based on conditions from almost any input channel. Because the D200 will be in-field flash upgradable, you will be able to add additional functions as we upgrade the firmware over time. _________________ James Ballenger

i guess, i could use it for a signal to pop open an exhaust cut out for my street car.
obiviously a shift light.
if it can be a frequency output, it's the signal I need for cruise control purposes. |
