Consistently when trying to calculate speed at
max rpm I get Runtime error 13 and program closes.
This is both with downloaded 1.5.1a and cd version of 1.5.1a.

Reproduces every time:
Start PCU application -> new -> Transmission setup -> Speed Inputs/Gearing
-> Enter any number in max rpm and pressing enter.

Screendump here:

Computer is a dual XEON 2.6 with 4GB ram,
running Norwegian Windows XP SP2. Transmission Controller not connected.

Please respond.

Sam,

Sorry, for not responding sooner - we have been out of the office at SEMA.

In your picture it appears that your computer is setup to use a comma for the decimal point. If you'd like I could send you a link to one of our newer versions that has improved support for european languages to see if that fixes the problem that you are having.

Also I noticed that the rest of that window appears to be missing a great deal of text. Was that window like that from the time you brought it up or did that only occur when the program crashed or when you took the screen shot?

Thanks for your reply.
The screenshot is taken after opening the program, selecting Speed Inputs/Gearing chart, pressing enter after entering any value in the rpm box. I only moved the msg box a couple of inches for a better view.

Other strange stuff is that the default values in the ratio setting comes up with both punctuation and commas. 3 with punctum and the others with commas. I've tried to change the local settings and use punctum as a decimal to no help. Also when opening the 4R100
calibration downloaded from your site, there is both punctum and commas in the same ratio.
ex: 1: 2,71. 2:1,541 3: 1.000 4: 0,71. Note 1 and 4th with punctum at end.
If I correct this and saves the file, even to another name, it stills reverts to this when I open it next time. Correcting it will not fix the Type mismatch error.

Please send me a link for a newer version.

Regards
Sam

Sam,

I will send you a private message with a link to a more recent version. Note that this new version will require a different firmware version on the TCU in order for it to work properly.

The double punctuation is a quite odd occurrence. Our software simply asks the operating system to format the number in the local settings and display three decimal places. I am not sure off hand why that would occur in some instances and not others. It appears when the number is an integer value such as 1.000 the number is being formatted properly. Let me know if that still happens in the new version. If this problem persists I may need to look into our conversion routine again. We are already bypassing using the operating system directly to return values back to the software that a user has entered as that was leading to the type mismatch problem you were having with the older version.

Did you purchase a TCU already through PCS or through one of our dealers?

The TCU was purchased together with harness 10/07/05 from your website.
It has a small label with some barcode and a number1243.
Invoice #233.
It is not installed yet.

Thank you.
That new version seems to be OK.

Sam,

The new firmware version should be included in the software you downloaded. A quick tutorial video on how to flash upgrade your TCU may be viewed at the following location:

http://www.powertraincontrolsolutions.com/download/tcu/help/Flash_Upgrade_TCU.html

If you have already started working on a calibration file you will want to save it to your computer, if it is not already, before you upgrade your TCU. Once you have finished the flash upgrade you can then update that calibration file, simply by opening it or attempting to program it into the TCU, so that it will be remapped and updated. I would recommend saving the upgraded file to a new location with a name denominating that it is compatible with the newer version of the software.

If you happen to get a notice about PWM frequencies during the file upgrade you may need to look at the PWM frequency setup form to determine the changes that need to be made. The process is largely automated but at some point along development between 1.5.1 and the beta you have we increased the clock and bus frequency of our unit which can sometimes lead to issues with the PWM frequencies not being able to match properly as they were setup before. If you are not using PWMs or are not using a PWM channel that is effected this may not be an issue regardless of the notification.

Please feel free to contact PCS during our normal business hours and speak with someone if you feel uncomfortable flash upgrading your TCU before you proceed.
