Hey,
I have a 1969 chevy truck, I have a nice little 305 in it from a 92 caprice. I also have a 1993 chevy extended cab two wheel drive 5.7 1/2 ton that the engine went out in. I was thinking that the tranny was a 700R4 but after looking closely I believe it's a 4L60E, theres a cable from the throttle body linkage going into a box on the firewall on the driver side. I basically just started researching this about an hour ago as I was thinking of putting the transmission ifrom the 93 into my 1969. Now the question is...Can it be done? I don't know if it's feasible from a cost standpoint to fool with it. Any help would be appreciated.

If the transmission is in fact a 4L60E, then it should be a very easy swap. The bolt patterns should be the same, the mounting points should match up easily and you should generally be able to drop the 1993 4L60E into your 1969 truck. I am not certain that it will be a direct drop in with your 1969 truck, but it shouldn't take much effort to retrofit. However, because this is an electronic transmission you would require a controller of some sort. If the 305 is still fuel injected then you will only need to buy our Transmission Controller and harness. If you converted the 305 to carburetion, then you will need a TPS adaptor kit also. A complete controller with a harness is currently $850 retail. If you need the TPS adaptor kit, that part is another $100.
